AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH DISPLAY

The Library is celebrating African American History Month through the presentation of a curated exhibit on the west side of the second floor display case. The presented collection offers a peak into the Library's rich literary resources dedicated to ethnic diversity in America.

African-American History Month was originally founded as Negro History Week in 1926.  The second week of February was chosen as it included the birthdays of both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.  February was first designated as African-American History Month in 1976.  (It's called Black History Month in Canada and the UK.)
