NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH DISPLAY

March is National Women's History Month. Created by President Carter in 1980, Congress expanded National Women's History Week to a month in 1987. This year's theme is "Writing Women Back into History." The history of women often seems to be written in invisible ink. Even when recognized in their own times, women are often not included in history textbooks.

A display of books on the history of women--from ancient Egypt through modern times--can be viewed in the display case by the entrance to the Library Learning Resources (LLR) building through the end of the month.

The Read: Poetry and Stories

From Sandra Hunter:
We have a new format for the Read coming up on March 18th!

Everyone is invited to take part in a mind-expanding (and completely legal!) writing exercise. Even if you've never written anything before -- you'll leave having written your first poem.
We're also introducing two theatre students who performed recently at the wildly successful show on campus, "What's The Point?"

Our special Moorpark poet this month is the fabulous Hart Schulz and our guest artist is Doug Kearney: douglaskearney.com/poetry and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OfCDTAYyJE
Check out his poems -- the man rocks.

Date: Wed 3/18
Time: 5:30pm
Place: 3rd Floor, Library
Open mic -- and there really will be free cookies this time!
